What! What! What! Whaaaat?!! Who is this Dixie chick? Is she a coach/trainer/fitness instructor gone mad? NO.
Say it aloud y’all, “Exercise has tremendous benefits. Weight loss just ain’t one of ‘em.” I know this sounds like crazy talk, but believe me, as the great Vinnie Tortorich says, “you can’t out run a bad diet.” I used to think it was 50/50 food/exercise and counseled my personal training clients from this mindset (sorry). Today I’m at at least 90% nutrition, if not more and I explain why in chapter 22 of The Nourishment Mindset, “You Can’t Exercise Your Way to Weight Loss, but You Need Exercise.” This episode dives into all of the benefits of exercise — particularly increased insulin sensitivity, and explains why exercise is a poor weight loss tool but critical for maintaining lean muscle mass.
We discuss the super important metabolic lab test your doc doesn't run. And I also dive into my favorite supplement, fermented cod liver oil from Green Pasture. This natural food supplement is superior to the rancid fish oil pills many doctors recommend, and more bioavailable than Vitamin D in pill form. There’s a natural flavored one — more pungent, as well as the cinnamon flavored I prefer. It comes with a little pipette and you can shoot that directly into your mouth. If you missed last week’s episode 27, I shared my other favorite food supplement, bone broth, so check it out.
